Building Department Commercial Wiring Permit Fee Schedule

 

Basic Fee:

New buildings, additions, renovations and alterations.
Minimum fee:        $80.00
(this covers up to and including the first $20,000.00 of construction cost)
For each additional $20,000.00 of construction costs or fraction thereof,
the fee will be       $25.00

Note:

  • These fees above include boiler or furnace, receptacle, building lights, appliances permanent service, and low voltage systems if listed on original permits, the the fees for each phase are to be calculated as per the above schedule.
  • If the building is constructed in separate phases, with separate building permits, then the fees for each phase are to be calculated as per the above schedule.

Additional Fees:

Additional fees listed below are for the individual items which are not already covered or provided in the base fee above.

Temporary and permanent service, each $35.00
Meters:  additional and service change, each $35.00
Electric Heat, each unit $36.00
Swimming pools $50.00
Central Air Conditioning $35.00
Burglar Alarm System (includes 2 keypad & alarm box)
Additionally: detectors $5.00 each and contactors $2.00 each
$35.00
Generator Transfer Switch $35.00
Signs $35.00
Fire protection devices
     Smoke detectors (minimum of 5 or under) $35.00
     After 5, each $7.00
     Other devices, example: heat detectors, horns, lights, pull stations, each $5.00
All types of low voltage systems, including:
 (a) Cable $35.00
 (b) Central vacuum $35.00
 (c) Communications $35.00
 (d) Computer $35.00
 (e) Telephone $35.00

If a-e are included in wiring permit and are ready for inspection at the same time as the rough inspection, fee will be $20.00.  If done separate from permit, above fees prevail.

Miscellaneous $35.00
Re-inspection for meters out of service 6 months or more $35.00
*Re-inspection fees may be charged for each inspection and re-inspection requested if work is incomplete or requires substantial corrections.

DOUBLE FEES FOR WORK STARTED WITHOUT A WIRING PERMIT

Notice:

 

  • Construction cost is based on estimated cost of building construction work which is on file with the building permit application in the Building Inspector's Office.
  • Before any permits are granted for the installation of wiring the person or corporation making application for such permit shall pay to the Town of Middleboro a fee in such amount as noted above.
  • Application must be accompanied with payment and proper identification and be filed prior to commencing work.
  • Work must be performed by a Mass. Licensed Electrician with proper insurance and must comply with all applicable codes and shall be inspected by the local authority having jurisdiction.
  • All permits issued shall be deemed abandoned and invalid unless the work authorized by it shall have been commenced within one year after its issuance.
