What Is A Cyclical Re-Inspection?

The Department of Revenue and Massachusetts General Laws require the Board of Assessors to maintain a re-inspection program of the properties within the community.  The program consists of an inspection of all properties in Middleborough every 10 years i.e. Cyclical Re-inspection.

Why Are We Doing A Cyclical Re-Inspection?

The Board of Assessors is responsible to maintain a full and fair market value of all properties in Middleborough.   This can only be accomplished if the data we have is accurate.  The collection and maintenance of current and accurate property inventory data is a critical element in determining uniform, fair market value.

How Are We Doing A Cyclical Re-Inspection?

An inspection will be completed to all properties in the town unless the property has been visited within the last five years.  This process will be completed over a period of three years.  The data collector is a member of the assessing staff and will carry both a picture ID and a letter from the office.  If no one is at home, the data collector will leave a door hanger to notify the homeowner that someone from this office was on the property.

What Is The End Result Of A Cyclical Re-Inspection?

The final goal is uniform, fair market value of all properties in Middleborough.  In other words, a fair assessment of your property.
