Monetary Donations to the Veterans' Services Office

A Massachusetts General Law makes provisions for monetary donations in the form of checks and cash to be made directly to the Veterans’ Services Office. This money is then used to support veterans and veterans related issues within the town that are not covered under the normal budget of the Veterans’ Services Department. Paul Provencher, the Middleborough Veterans’ Services Officer, states that there have been many times during his tenure where he and a number of local veterans and veterans’ organizations have personally assisted veterans and their families financially that are not covered by his governing regulations for assistance . He sees a 3 person committee of veterans being established to manage this account. Local funeral directors have agreed that family members may choose to request donations to the Veterans’ Services Office in lieu of flowers. Checks should be made out to the Veterans’ Services Office and they will go into a special account established with the town treasurer that is never part of the general fund, and is not used as part the annual budget of the Veterans’ Services Department. Please send checks or drop off donations at the Veterans’ Services Office, 20 Centre Street Middleborough, MA 02346.
