The John T. Nichols Middle School is scheduled to
open for the 1999-2000 school year. The building is dedicated to the
late John T. (Tiger) Nichols who was the chairman of the school
committee for 20 years, and he served on the school committee for 25
years, he passed away in June of 97'. The building features a campus or
village type layout, and is being built at a cost of approximately 23
million dollars, and an additional $485,000 for the seventy acres it
sits on. The rate of reimbursement by the State is 79%. The building
will house grades 6,7, and 8, and has a maximum capacity of 1100
students. The building is expected to be dedicated in October 1999, but
it will be ready well before the first day of school this year. The
General Contractor is Congress Construction Company, and the Architect
is Drummey, Rosane, and Anderson. |
