2002 PRIVATE AFFORDABLE HOUSING RENTAL PROGRAM

The Private Affordable Housing Rental Program is intended to assist persons of low to moderate income in identifying and applying for available rental units in the Town of Middleborough under the local Housing Development Support Program Grant.

Current affordable rentals are limited in size to one and two bedroom units.

Rental rates are regulated by the Brockton PMSA as published periodically by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for use in the Housing Development Support Program.  Current rental rates may be obtained by contacting the Middleborough Office of Economic and Community Development.

Individuals interested in applying for a rental unit should first contact the Middleborough Office of Economic and Community Development, which will guide potential renters through the application and qualification process.  These private rental units will be made available to only those individuals who are defined as having a low to moderate income as established by the Income Limits published periodically by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the Brockton, MA are, for use by the Housing Development Support Program.

FY 2002 Low and Moderate
Income Limits

1 person household:

$22,250 to $35,550

2 person household

$25,400 to $40,650

Applications are available at the Office of Economic and Community Development, located at 20 Centre Street between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or by calling 508-946-2402 and asking to have an application mailed to you.

Due to the limited units available, it is possible that a rental unit will not be available at the same time your application is approved.  In such an instance, your name will be placed on a waiting list.

Notification to an applicant of a vacancy will be made from a written waiting list in the chronological order of their approved application, with priority given to Middleborough residents.

The Housing Development Support Program (HDSP), a component of the Massachusetts Community Block Grant Program (CDBG), is designed to assist project-specific affordable housing initiatives with emphasis on creation, preservation or improvement of small scale public and private projects which may not be cost-effective under other development assistance programs or with conventional financing.
