Building Department Residential Wiring Permit Fee Schedule

Basic Fee:

New houses, single family dwelling or each individual unit of multiple family dwellings $85.00.   Includes boiler or furnace, permanent service, smoke detectors, receptacles, lights, appliance & low voltage systems if the above are included in the wiring permit and are ready for inspections at the same time as the rough inspections.  If done on a separate permit the fees below will prevail.

Additional Fees:

Additional fees listed below are for the individual items which are not already covered or provided in the base fee above.

New additions, garages, alterations, sheds, barns $40.00
Temporary and permanent service, each $25.00
Meters:  additional $25.00
Service change $40.00
Swimming pools $40.00
Central Air Conditioning $25.00
Burglar Alarm System $25.00
Generator Transfer Switch $25.00
Fire protection devices
     Smoke detectors (minimum of 3 or under) $25.00
     After 3, each $5.00
     Other devices, example: heat detectors, horns, lights $5.00
All types of low voltage systems, including:
Cable $25.00
Central vacuum $25.00
Communications $25.00
Computer $25.00
Telephone $25.00
Miscellaneous $25.00
Re-inspections for meters out of service 6 months or more $25.00


DOUBLE FEES FOR WORK STARTED WITHOUT A WIRING PERMIT

Notice:
 

  • Before any permits are granted for the installation of wiring the person or corporation making the application for such permit shall pay the Town of Middleborough a fee in such amount as noted above.
  • Applications must be accompanied with payment and proper identification and be filed prior to commencing work.
  • Work must be performed by a Mass. Licenses Electrician with proper insurance and must comply with all applicable codes and shall be inspected by the local authority having jurisdictions.
  • All permits issued shall be deemed abandoned and invalid unless the work authorized by it shall have been commenced within one year after its issuance.
